A Mini Inquiry Project—Something Is Happening in Egypt—What is It?

Today, your challenge in class is to investigate what is going on in Egypt. Is this a watershed moment in history—a big deal? What’s happening there? I am not going to tell you much more than that.

Working in your group, find out what’s going on. What questions do you have? Begin here and come up with a list of questions. Add to your list as you uncover the facts. Dig deeper, ask even more questions.

Take notes in your geography/history journal; begin on a new, left-hand page. Date the page and title it: Research Notes: Egypt.

Task

Your task is to create a group briefing/presentation that will be delivered to your class. Use a presentation file in Google Docs. Create at least 5 slides. Decide what information you need to share with the class such as background, etc. Plan and organize your briefing/presentation. All members must participate. Your briefing/presentation should be 4 to 5 minutes long. Cite your sources.

Briefing/presentations are due on Wednesday, Feb. 2 for Eisenhower and Carter and on Thursday, Feb. 3 for Lincoln and Washington. See change on prior post.

Denali: Top Secret

Tanner B. and Victim

Tanner B. and VictimDear Denali,

Dear Denali,

There has been breaking news following the hike of January 7th. A fully grown barred owl  has been discovered by Tanner B., dead, alongside Heath Brook, just below a hemlock tree. The investigation soon grew curious when paw-prints had been discovered by Ben H. leading from the victim’s body to another tree close by. There I found owl feathers, and soon more paw-prints were found leading into the woods. Many tried to track them, but stopped when the trail ended with

more of the owl’s down. We continued along Heath Brook, hoping to find more evidence as to who the killer could be. After nearly ten minutes, one of our members spotted something. Another barred owl, as identified by Kelsey B., sitting high in a tree. We coaxed it to talk, but it stayed strong and had nothing to say about its lost friend. Meanwhile, Viens discovered something very strange. We were seated around a tall pine tree. It was nearly 1:00. And that was when we were certain of the

killer. Maddie T., a member of our own investigation, had feather-like things in her hair and stuck to her clothing. We jumped her in questions, but she explained that it was just cattail fuzz.

We have not found the killer yet, but I assure you he or she is still out there, waiting. If you have any leads, please contact 1-800-this-is-fake, or find us at Mod 4, Vista Deck.

Thank you.
