Today in SSEnglish, Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Here’s what you will begin doing today in SSEnglish:

1. Working in your research group, learn more about fracking by viewing this interactive feature from National Geographic. View and discuss this resource multiple times. Remember how many times we listened to the audio recording on Monday.

2. As you go through the interactive, keep a running list in your journal and on a T-chart of the pro’s and con’s of fracking.

Take notes in your SSEnglish Journal and keep them neat and organized.

3. Keep a list of questions you have as you build more background knowledge. This is very important in building more and deeper background knowledge.

5. Read this article from Propublica—”What is Hydraulic Fracturing?”  to build even more background knowledge.

Take notes in your SSEnglish Journal and keep them neat and organized.

Finally,

In your research group, create a poster that includes at least the three areas below:

Your poster must include/show:

•The pros and cons of fracking.
•Information how fracking could cause earthquakes
Why fracking could be a hazard.
