What Happened Last Night In The Iowa Caucus?

Today in class you need to do the following:

1. Go this link on Wordsymth and begin with a definition of caucus; write it down in your journal. Add more to this definition as you learn more about the Iowa Caucus in your discussions today. By the end of class, you should have added more information to the basis definition.

2. In your table group, share the information you learned last night about the Iowa Caucus in a round robin discussion. Share and discuss the information that you learned and more importantly, the questions that you have. Add to your notes in your social studies journal. Be able to answer at least these questions:

1. What is the Iowa Caucus?

2. How does it work?

3. What were the results?

4. What impact will/may Iowa have in New Hampshire Primary on next Tuesday, January 10?

3. Here’s a link at ABC News that gives you another explanation about the workings of the Iowa Caucus. Here’s another great link that explains about the Iowa Caucus at The Los Angeles Times. Finally, here’s another take on how the Iowa Caucus works at The Washington Post.

Feel free to go back to any of the links posted yesterday to help you dig deeper in understanding what the Iowa Caucus was all about.

If time permits, try typing in Iowa Caucus 2012 to this search engine: SweetSearch4Me.

Lastly, social studies journals will be collected at the end of class on Thursday; make sure you pass yours in on time.
