There are six different topics/big questions that will frame each debate:

1. Natural Disasters: Is global warming causing more natural disasters?

2. Genocide: Does the global community have a responsibility to intervene in states committing genocide?

3. Anti-Immigrant Movement: Is the anti-immigrant movement racist?

4. Keystone Pipeline: Should the U.S. government approve the Keystone XL Pipeline?

5. Overpopulation: Should strict population control measures be enacted to protect the environment?


6. Identity Cards: Do the potential benefits of national identification cards outweigh the potential risks?

Today in SSEnglish, Monday and Tuesday, June 2 and 3, 2014

Here’s what we did today:

1. The Asia Map Test was given today. Maps were also collected.

2. 8th grade band and chorus students who were on the tours Monday and Tuesday will be given all the information to complete the tests on Wednesday, June 4.

3. If you are interested in taking a retest on the map, you must have a completed map. All directions sheets must be passed in with each item checked off indicating that the item is labeled and/or colored on the map.

Canobie Lake Permission Slips and the $20 are due on or before Friday, June 6. The trip is on Wednesday, June 11 with the rain date on Tuesday, June 10.

•The Promotion Cover Design Contest entries are due to Ms. Damberg on or before, Friday, June 6.

The requirement are:

•Draw a design on an 8×11″ sheet of white paper.
•The design must be “black and white” so it can be duplicated.
•Each 8th grade team must be represented in the design.
