This is what we did today in our combined classes of English and social studies:

1. Animal Farm chapter 5 questions were passed out today in class. Choose any four out of the 11 questions to do. They are due at the beginning of class on Monday, January 23.

2. Reading with a pencil in hand, everyone was given time in class to read the handout “On Caucus Night, a Time Commitment” (yellow paper). The directions were to underline and make notes in the margins about your reaction and/or questions you have about what you were reading. This sheet was collected at the end of the day and will count for a grade based on what you did.

Later in the day, a second copy of “On Caucus Night, a Time Commitment” (white paper) was given to all students; this handout included annotations already on the paper. See me for a copy of the white paper; it cannot be posted online.

Reminders:

1. Anyone interested in taking a retest on the Forms of Government Test can do so by coming to Mod 4 during morning advisory. First, check in with your advisor. You must pass in a written plan on paper indicating the steps you took to better prepare yourself for the retest. Review your notes and the handouts from the iCivics Web site about forms of government. Review the Forms of Government Vocab List given to you this week. You must take the retest by Thursday, January 26.

2. Finally, anyone wishing to resubmit their Iowa Caucus Essay to be considered for a higher grade, needs to do so by Wednesday, January 25. The original copy of the essay must also be handed in.
